What is permanent jewelry?

Does it hurt?

Not at all! The process is quick and totally painless. We use a micro welder, and a small patch protects your skin during the spark—most people say they barely feel a thing.

Can I wear it in water?

Yes! Our gold-filled and sterling silver chains are water-resistant. You can shower, swim, and sweat in your piece without worry.

Will my chain tarnish?

There is always a possibility it can tarnish over time, but it’s usually minimal and depends on how it’s cared for.

Here’s the quick breakdown:

• Gold-filled – Won’t tarnish easily; any dullness is usually from surface buildup (lotion, soap, sweat) and can be cleaned.

• Sterling silver (.925) – Can oxidize and darken over time, especially if exposed to water, humidity, or certain chemicals, but it’s easy to polish back to bright.

• Solid gold – Will not tarnish at all.

• Plated metals – Tarnish quickly and can wear down.

Will the chain change my skin a different color?

Our chains are made from high-quality materials like 14k gold-filled and sterling silver, which are generally safe for sensitive skin and won’t turn your skin green. However, everyone’s skin chemistry is different, and things like sweat, lotions, or pH levels can occasionally cause minor discoloration, especially with lower-cost metals like stainless steel or plated options. We always recommend choosing gold-filled or sterling silver for long-lasting shine and minimal reaction!

What if I need to take it off?

If you need to remove it (for an MRI, surgery, etc.), just snip it at the jump ring. Hold onto your chain—we can re-weld it for you!

That’s up to the parent/guardian’s discretion, but I usually recommend ages 10+ who can sit still for the process.

Can I add charms later?

Absolutely — you can bring your piece back anytime to add a charm or switch it up.

Will my permanent jewelry stretch?

Permanent jewelry is designed to hold its shape, but it is possible for the chain to stretch slightly over time if there’s excessive pulling, tugging, or tightening at the spot where it’s worn. To keep your piece looking its best, try to avoid activities that put extra strain on it. We can always make your chain smaller if it gets too stretched!
